VOGUE: Madonna
4ft x 4ft (122 × 122 cm)
Original Decollage on Cradled Wood Panel (7.5 cm)
Pink Neon Dripping Crown
Created using appropriated street posters, movie posters, spray paint, marker, stencils and halftone portrait work.
The surface has been layered, torn back and rebuilt, so the history sits in the texture.
Madonna didn’t ask for permission, she set the pace.
Fashion, music, identity, attitude - she moved first and everyone else adjusted.
The neon crown marks that.
In graffiti culture, a crown isn’t decoration. It’s recognition.
Given through impact. Madonna earned hers.
Look closely and you’ll see references to different eras of her career embedded in the layers. Some are obvious. Some sit quiet and show up later. The piece unfolds the longer you have it.
